August 10 - Decorated Meandering Vines by Kaye

This beautiful variation on the pattern presented yesterday has leaves of Roll Tatted Rings, which are "thrown off" the vines so it requires two shuttles or two tatting needles.

Materials:
Two balls of size 20 tatting thread, one in a flower color and one in a leaf color.
Two shuttles or two size 5 tatting needles

S2 shuttle 2 or tatting needle 2
R ring
ds double stitch
d first half of ds
s second half of ds

cl r close ring
RW reverse work
Ch chain
SLT shoe lace trick
+ join

Directions:
Fill S1 with flower colored tatting thread and cut from ball. Fill S2 with leaf colored tatting thread. Or cut a comfortable working length of thread for each tatting needle. Tie the two thread ends together

S1: R 3 ds ( --dd -- ss ) 3 times, -- 3ds, cl r. RW.
*S1 is working thread, S2 is ball thread
Ch 3 ds.
S2: Roll tatted ring. R 1 ds, 12 rolls, 1 ds, cl r.
S1 is working shuttle and S2 is ball thread.
Ch 6 ds SLT and RW. Ch 6 ds.
Roll tatted ring. R 1 ds, 12 rolls, 1 ds, cl r.
S1 is working shuttle and S2 is ball thread.
Ch 3 ds. RW.
S1: R 3 ds + ( to last p of previous R. The vine is not encased in the join but floats across the join on the back side of the work.), ( -- ss -- dd ) 3 times, 3 ds.

Repeat from * to desired length
