Celtic Star Challenge by Ruth

For this 5 point star you should begin with a tatted chain with about 30 ds between the picots

Chain ( 30 - 30 - 30 - 30 - 30 )

Here is a diagram with the weaving shown in several steps: Follow the weaving color by color from the middle (red) then gray, green and finally black.

It may be easier if you pin it to a pillow as you weave the chains through. I like practicing with a bit of cord or rope til I get the hang of the weaving. The row around the outside of this star is just a Chain with the shuttle thread from the first row and the ball thread the white.

Chain 10 - 10 + 10 - 10 and so on around to the beginning of this row. Tie, cut leaving ends long enough for twisted cord.

If you tat this with one long chain that will wrap around your finger five times, and then do the weaving, insert your finger in the center, and adjust the chains so they are evenly spaced you will have a nice tatted ring for your finger. Just be sure to tie the end to the beginning after it is fitted to your finger, then hide the ends.
That's a bit of a challenge. Enjoy!
